Betty June Lundgren

Betty June Lundgren passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. We are comforted knowing that Betty is in heaven with her husband, Robert (Bob) Lundgren, who passed away in 2022. Betty was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Helen and William Spradlin. She was the youngest of three children and graduated from Paseo High School. After high school, she worked full-time as a dental assistant and part-time at Kline's Department Store. Betty met Bob, the love of her life, on the stairs of the Broadway Baptist Church in Kansas City. Bob went home that afternoon and announced that he had met his future wife. They were married soon after. They had two beautiful daughters. Betty, Bob, and their daughters (ages 2 and 6 weeks) moved from Kansas City to Tulsa when Bob was transferred with Arthur Young. Although Betty always thought they would move back to Kansas City, Tulsa became their home for over 60 years. Betty was a strong, independent woman long before it was fashionable to be so. As soon as her daughters started school, she enrolled at the University of Tulsa where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. But Betty quickly discovered that she had excellent intuition in reading the real estate market. She became licensed and started her career as a realtor with John Hausam Realtors. She later became an independent real estate broker and purchased many properties including two apartment complexes - The Cedars and 18th and Cheyenne - which she personally managed for many years. Betty maintained her real estate license until her death. When most people were thinking about retirement, Betty decided that owning a bed and breakfast might be fun. They purchased a property in southeastern Oklahoma and named it Clayton Country Inn. Betty and Bob managed all aspects of the inn for over 30 years. As Bob would joke, he retired from his CPA career to become a dishwasher and handyman. Betty had an incredible zest for life. She loved celebrations. We will never be able to compete with how hard she worked to have the perfect Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers for our families, but we will continue to try! Betty and Bob enjoyed traveling, golfing, and attending the Men's Club dances. Betty made sure that they had heated pools at their homes so they could take a relaxing swim almost every evening even in their later years. Betty leaves her family with many fond memories of Grand Lake. They first owned a three-story condo at Spinnaker Point. Then as their family expanded, they built a large lake home at The Coves overlooking the main body of Grand Lake. Together with their daughters and their spouses, then grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they spent many weekends and the 4th of July holidays boating, BBQing, and watching the spectacular fireworks show over the water at the Cherokee Yacht Club. Betty was competitive in all phases of her life. She enjoyed playing bridge and gin with her girlfriends, betting on the Chiefs football games against her older brother, Bill, and teaching her grandkids the finer aspects of gambling. Betty was active for many years at Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Tulsa Mrs. Club, Cedar Ridge Country Club, and many bridge and ladies lunch groups. Left to mourn and celebrate the life of this amazing woman are her daughters - Nancy Harrison (Glenn, Jr.) and Terri Todd (Dean O.), her four grandchildren - Stephen Harrison, Tyler Todd (Tracy), Jessica Harrison, Carter Todd (Adrianna), her two great-grandchildren, William and Molly Todd, her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Spradlin, and many friends. Betty's ultimate goal was to stay in her home. We thank the ladies that made this possible for Ms. Betty - Janet, Irene, and Vivaldi, and others when needed who were on Team Betty. We thank her doctors especially Dr. Steven Gawey and Dr. Robert Todd, medical home health services, and in her final days, Seasons Hospice. Betty's wish was to help others during their battle with Parkinson's. In lieu of flowers, a tribute gift in her memory would be greatly appreciated at the Oklahoma Parkinson's Alliance (oklahomapa.org) or a charity of your choice. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 4:30-6:30pm at Moore's Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145. The family will hold a private family service.
