Christopher Jace Pitaniello

On December 10th, 2016, the Lord hugged the life of the party, Christopher Jace Pitaniello. Jace was born on the non-existent day, February 29th, 1988. He called his mom, Mitzi Carrington, every day, even from the top of the numerous 14'ers he hiked. His greatest mountain triumphs were the peaks of Humboldt, Democrat, Maroon Bells and Longs Peak. He enjoyed numerous rounds of golf with his hero and dad, Chris Pitaniello. Jace graduated as a Jenks Lifer in 2006 and carried on his closest friendships from that time until his passing. He continued on to Oklahoma State University and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, but Rugby was his main collegiate concern. You could tell Jace loved Jesus in the way he enjoyed God's creation and cared for people. Jace's words carried weight in the lives of people he loved. His golden spirit lifted those who were beaten down by life. He had a never quit and get all you can out of life mentality, which he got from his parents Mitzi and Jim Carrington and Kim and Chris Pitaniello. He was never without a crowd of family or friends. He is survived by: grandparents Mike and Gloria Ballard, Barry and Sandra Pitaniello, Louis Quinn, and Joe Carrington; aunts and uncles Brian and Tammy Pitaniello, Jeff and Melodie Ballard, Krista Quinn, Cinnamon Archibald, and Joel and Cherie Carrington; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Ira and Ruby Hagle and Mary Carrington. His favorite people to torture were his little sisters Julia Pitaniello and Lydia Carrington, though at the end of the day he was quick with an, "I love you sis." They have many stories of his supportive and protective nature. Jace lived life big. The world lost a little light, but heaven gained a huge heart. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Rescued 'n Ready Animal Foundation of Tulsa or Outward Bound of Colorado. A viewing will be available in Tulsa on December 16th from 9am to 9pm at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, OK. The funeral service with another viewing will be held in Tulsa on December 17th at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 5590 S. Lewis Ave., at 2pm. Jace is hugging friends and family who have gone before him, even his beloved pets Corky, Bessie and Mr. Green Jelly Bean. He was born on the non-existent day, February 29th, 1988. He arrived in a grand and typical Jace way, "out his own door" through a C section 2 weeks early. Jace was a mama's boy and never seemed to detach from the umbilical cord. He called his mom every day, even from the top of the numerous 14ers he hiked. His greatest mountain triumphs were the peaks of Humboldt, Democrat, Maroon Bells and Longs Peak. Usually the conversation started with, "Mom, I almost died." Hiking mountains was his place of peace and solace. Jace looked up to his father, Chris. There was never a conversation that Jace had when he didn't mention what amazing thing his Dad was up to and how proud he was of his accomplishments. Jace graduated as a Jenks Lifer in 2006 and he still carries his closest friendships from there. East or west side of the river, Jace had no boundaries on friendship. He continued onto OSU and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, but Rugby was his main collegiate concern. He worked at the Mayo Hotel before moving to Colorado, where he worked at the Boulderado Hotel in Boulder, then worked for Trulia. You could tell Jace loved Jesus in the way he enjoyed God's creation and cared for people. Jace's words carried weight in the lives of people he loved.
