Emmalee Flake

Emmalee Bell Flake was born January 14, 1927 in Dewar Oklahoma. Emmalee is survived by her children, Gordon Lee "Lucky" Flake and his wife Glenda, Sandy Fletcher and husband"Butch" Fletcher, and daughter Marilyn Kaye Flake. Also beloved Jill Flake the mother of Her grandchildren Travis, Kimberlee and Justin Flake. Myles Rohloff, the father of Scarlett, Victoria and Elizabeth. Emmalee had 8 Grandchildren: Christophrer Wayne Rake, Patrick Gordon Rake and his wife Shannon, Travis Gordon Flake and his wife Liz, Kimberlee Ann Whiteman and her husband Ry, Justin Lee Flake and his wife Nikki, Scarlett Alexandria Rohloff, Victoria Rose Rohloff, and Elizabeth Grace Rohloff. She was blessed with 10 Great grandchildren. She is also survived by her Sister, Sara Ellen Collins, Brother and Sister in law Bob and Joann Flake, Sister in law De-An Bell and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart, love of her life, her husband, Hughy (H.G.) Gordon Flake, parents Oscar and Estie Bell, and also her brothers, Melvin, Elmo and Arthur Houston Bell. To describe Emmalee in one word would be giving. She was constantly thinking of others and anticipating their needs. She was loving, kind, thoughtful and encouraging� Emmalee Lost her precious mother Estie, aged 36 when Emmalee was very young, so motherhood meant everything to her. Emmalee passed from this earth to her heavenly home on December 31, 2016. Although the dates are considered milestones, it is truly the "dash" in between that really counts. Emmalee was raised in the Baptist church as a child and was baptized in Kusa Pond in Dewar, Oklahoma. She later went on to join the non-denomination Christian church. Emmalee was a Christian and served God in every way that she could. She raised her children to know and love Jesus Christ so that they also, could accept him as their Lord and Savior. Her life revolved around her husband, children and family. At one point in her young life she wanted to travel, specifically to New York City. She had big dreams for being a small-town girl. Thankfully she did not have the opportunity to do that, as a fluke or rather "FATE" she met Hughy Gordon Flake when she was 16 years old. The war was coming and they wanted to get married. After promising her father that she would finish high school they waited a few short months and then married on her 17th birthday, January 14, 1944. She did in fact go on to finish high school and would travel back-and-forth to spend time with her beloved mother in law Gladys "Granny " Flake. After graduation she went to be with her husband at the military base in Piney Point MD. After the war was over they moved back to Oklahoma. They had three children, Sandy Flake Fletcher, Gordon Lee, "Lucky" Flake and Marilyn Kaye Flake. Most of her time was spent taking care of her family and raising her children. Early on Hughy was a traveling salesman being gone a week at a time she was left at home with their first baby, Sandy. It was During this time that she spent most of her time with "Granny" who taught her how to cook and became like a mother to her. She felt unconditional love from her and she loved her deeply. Emmalee and Hughy had a conversation at the kitchen table that started as a thought, a dream, and then grew into reality when they started their own plumbing supply business. At one point Hughy decided that he wanted to retire so they moved to the beautiful countryside of Willow Springs, Missouri. They built, opened and ran a skating rink for several years, then chose to move back to Tulsa in 1963 at which time they resumed the plumbing supply business. They would refer to one another as a pair of scissors, one side was no good without the other. Through tough times, good times, through the depression and the rise and fall of the oil field She walked side-by-side with him supporting and assisting him in civic organizations. They became active in several charitable organizations one being The Saba Grotto where she joined the ladies unit called the Sabettas. She also assisted with Sertoma . She volunteered at Doctors Hospital and in the church. She enjoyed bowling and spent many years bowling on a Christian women's league until her arthritis prevented her from her from participating in her favorite sport. She always enjoyed playing cards and would get together with friends often. Whether it be cards, bunco, or volunteering, she was always on the go, even working in the family business until the age of 86. Her passion however, was her family. She loved taking care of her family and loved it most when they were all together at her house, or better yet, the calmness, serenity and relaxation of her lakehouse on Grand Lake. She was active in her children's lives whether it be watching ballgames, dance recital's, or cheerleading� She was there. She would beam and glow when she spoke of her children. She was also active in the lives of her grandchildren helping with the concession stand or watching football, soccer, or softball games. She attended various functions and many birthday parties. After Hughy passed away she began to travel more and she did enjoy the various trips from one side of the country to the other...even learing to snow ski after the age of 65! She went on several cruises, and saw many parts of the word, including a special cruise to Alaska with her son. One of her most cherished memories was when she traveled to the holy land. While there, she had a once in a lifetime opportunity to put her hand in the Jordan River. She lived a full life, you might even describe it as two. She lived 89 years, she lived to see things that she would never even dreamed that would become possible in any lifetime. She lived, she gave, she loved...and was loved in return by many. She is now resting in the arms of Jesus and celebrating eternal life in her Heavenly home. She has been reunited with her loving husband who no doubt has been waiting for her arrival and greeted her with arms wide open. For those of use left behind...She will be missed. Until we all meet again....to God be the glory Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 and the Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 6, 2017 both at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 Lunch will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery Family Center, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK. Any food item needs to be taken to Memorial Park Cemetery Family Center after 1:00 P.M. If you do not wish to send flowers, family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association-Tulsa, 2448 E. 81st, Cityplex Towers, #3000, Tulsa, OK 74137 or a charity of your choice.
