Frances Elaine Corn

Frances Elaine Corn was born to Leslie and Juanita Baker in Collinsville, Oklahoma, on January 16, 1930. She entered the presence of her Lord and Savior April 26, 2025. She was 95. She was the third born. Fern was her older sister and closest confidant. Frances graduated from Vinita High School in 1948 and began work for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. She met and married Kermit Warren Corn on April 15, 1950; and the couple purchased their first home. Her husband and father hoisted the house and installed indoor plumbing in time to welcome a little six-week preemie daughter on January 17, 1951. Kermit accepted a craftsman job at Southwestern Bell in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thereafter they purchased a home on North Woodrow Place. Frances found a job in Tulsa as a keypunch operator. On October 30, 1953, Kermit and Frances added a son to their family. Kermit and Frances moved into a home they built in 1958 in what was then considered Southeast Tulsa, now Midtown. Frances remained in that home for the rest of her life. Frances enjoyed summer days at the neighborhood pool with her longtime friend Bobbie Seay. After her son entered Hale High School, Frances reentered the workforce as a Saint Francis Hospital call center operator where after many years, she retired ending her career. In retirement, Frances occasionally helped in the church nursery. It was a great joy for her, when Fern, as a widow, moved to live in Tulsa. Frances was very particular, and although sometimes seeing the glass half-empty, she served her family as a loving wife and mother. She believed in good nutrition and fitness. Kermit and Frances honored her mother by visiting, caring, and watching after her in her old age until she passed. She remained married to Kermit for 56 years until his death in 2006. As a widow, she did some election board work, while enjoying her family and church friends: particularly her daughter, Leslye Kay, who honorably attended to her needs for many years, church friend Pat Shearer, who brought her so much joy and laughter in her last years, and the young lady, Jessica Stone, who lovingly served Frances' domestic and medicinal needs in the last couple of years. The most significant time of her life was when a neighbor, Carmen Douglas, who lived near her, developed a burden for Frances. Carmen made sure to share with her about Jesus. She called upon the Lord and trusted Him to save her from her sins. Frances made sure her children attended church and Sunday school to learn about Jesus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit, her parents and Baker siblings: Virgil, Fern, and Ed. She is survived by her daughter, Leslye Kay, and husband, Fred Calkins, of Broken Arrow; her son, Kruger Charles, and wife, Patricia Lou Corn, of Houston; her granddaughter, Jody Dawn, and husband, David Brown, of Broken Arrow; Fredrick Kruger and wife, Natasha Calkins, of Mary Ester, Florida; Kruger Charles III and wife, Rachel Earlyn Corn, of Anchorage, Alaska; David Michael and wife, Joy Elizabeth Corn, of Houston; and 17 great-grandchildren.
