Roger Grigor

On January 25, 2024, Jon Roger Grigor, the son of Gerald and Betty Grigor, and the brother of Randy Grigor and his wife Cindy, peacefully passed away at his home. Born on October 1, 1946, Roger lived a remarkable life marked by a deep devotion to his family and faith. He attended Edison High School, where he excelled in multiple sports, particularly in the broad jump. His athletic prowess was recognized when he set a school record during his time there. Throughout his life, Roger continued to nurture his love for sports, playing slow and fast pitch softball into adulthood. He admired Mickey Mantle, his childhood hero, and aspired to emulate his greatness on the field and at the plate. After graduating from high school, Roger pursued higher education at the University of Tulsa. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Alpha fraternity, was the junior class vice president and was awarded the "Outstanding Fraternity Man" his senior year. As a veteran of the Army National Guard, he served his country with pride. Roger achieved remarkable success throughout his career as a business owner and leader of people. He was known for his personal, caring approach to leadership, and he won several professional awards, including "National Sales Manager of the Year" during his time with Sprint. Roger felt a deep responsibility towards those he managed, striving to make their job a joy, protecting them from some of the negative aspects of the corporate world, and helping them grow as individuals, not just as employees. Despite his professional achievements, Roger's favorite activity was playing, coaching, and watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and activities. He selflessly spent countless hours in the bleachers, on sidelines, and in the backyard playing catch or collecting rebounds in the driveway. Nothing brought him more joy than cheering on those he loved. As a devoted follower of Jesus, Roger was a faithful church member, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and Lifegroup leader. He had a passion for God's word and dedicated the last decade of his life to helping those new in their journey with Christ. He wanted to use his gifts to help others understand the Bible and follow Jesus. Roger considered his family his greatest honor and highest achievement. He shared 47 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Donna Grigor. He cherished his role as a father and took immense pride in his sons' and daughter-in-laws, Scott and Betsy Grigor, Brian and Esther Grigor, and Gerod and Kerri Grigor. In addition to his sons, Roger leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren. Josh, Grace, Grant, Avery, Jovie, Emma and Jane brought immense joy to his life, and he adored each and every one of them. Roger will be remembered for his warm heart, his dedication to family, his love for sports, and his unwavering faith. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A memorial service will be held at Southern Hills Baptist Church on Thursday, February 1 at 11am.
