Liz Rosell

Elizabeth (Liz) Rose Rosell was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on March 31, 1949. She's now residing in heaven and left us on July 31st 2016. Her parents were Fred and Margot Dulong. She is survived by her husband Thomas Rosell, brother Peter Dulong, daughters Terri Rosell and Nicole Hatten, son-in-law Jeremiah Hatten, son Eric Rosell and daughter-in-law Chelsea Rosell, and grandchildren Michael Bayko, Gracie Hatten, Jackson Hatten, and Asa Hatten. Liz went to Church on the Move for 24 years where she served as a greeter and an altar counselor. She attended one year at Rhema Bible School and also attended Healing School regularly. Her strong faith drew many people to her and her heart was drawn to sharing Jesus with others. Liz graduated from Reading High School in 1967 where she was active in student council, journaling, sports, and music clubs. Since Liz's mom was the Operating Room Coordinator at Winchester Hospital, she was very comfortable in the medical field and chose to pursue a career in nursing at Boston University, where she received several scholarships to help her complete her dream. Liz graduated from Boston University with a BSN/RN degree in 1971. For more than 30 years, Liz worked as a nurse eventually becoming a nursing supervisor at several psychiatric and alcohol and drug treatment facilities in the greater Boston area. Liz was very comfortable helping others which is why her role as a nurse was always enjoyable and was what she knew she was called to do. During her time in college, Liz was married from 1969-1970 and had a baby girl, Theresa Ann. In 1982, she married Tom Rosell from New Hampshire and they had a baby girl, Nicole Aimee and a son, Eric Matthew, in 1986. Liz always stated that she was happiest when she had her whole family together and one could feel that joy and warmth when entering her home. The family moved to Tulsa Oklahoma in 1991 when Tom took a job at a local aviation facility. Liz continued to work as a registered nurse in Oklahoma until her first cancer diagnosis in 2007. Liz's words about her long battle with cancer are in the following passage: My journey began in June of 2007 when I was told that I have ovarian cancer. For a busy workaholic nurse who had been taking care of others all of her life those words were very difficult to digest. I am a dedicated wife, mother of three awesome children, and grandmother to four gorgeous young ones. I was a charge nurse at a local psychiatric hospital, I volunteered at two churches and specifically enjoyed my time helping with the children's ministry where my daughter Nicole was the children's pastor. I am very comfortable helping others, that is why I became a nurse. I loved what I was called to do and thought I would never stop. I have been through seven surgeries and many rounds of chemotherapy since 2007. Due to the disease and side effects of chemo, I had to stop working. That saddened me almost more than those four words I heard in 2007. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and immediately had a mastectomy and 29 lymph nodes removed. I am a walking miracle! We have spent a great deal of money and have cried many tears as we asked for help when the cancer spread to my liver and small tumors developed in 2013. Our goal was to find alternative healing centers as I could no longer tolerate conventional modalities. I've traveled to Mexico and the Phillipines with my oldest daughter seeking treatment plans to heal me so once again I can lead a productive and fruitful life with my family. I am a fighter. I believe in God's healing power. I stand on Romans 8:11, "And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you." Liz passed away Sunday, July 31st, 2016 at home with her husband and children next to her. Even until the very end, she was the strongest, most loving and caring woman. She surpassed all earthly odds by fighting and waiting until her whole family could be with her to relinquish control and join her Savior and loved ones in heaven. Today we celebrate her life, her love of people, relationships, her family, her friends, and her legacy. I'd like to take a minute to say thank you. From our family to yours, we are honored to have you with us today. Our Jesus is so faithful, through all of the heartache and pain He was there. He showed up because we asked Him to. In the smallest of details, to the biggest of details, He was with us. I stand with my family today to tell you, when you are ready and open to see Him, He will show up. One of the precious details I would like to share with you is this little jar. I gave this Grateful Jar to my mom on Christmas of 2014. We opened and read them this past Monday, the day after she passed. Without knowing it, she had used this little jar as her hope jar. We have posted her hope memories in the back and today we would like you to help us fill this jar with Lizzy Memories.
