Dr. C. D. Spencer, DDS
May 27, 1937 - February 11, 2022
Charles Dean Spencer, DDS (Dean to his friends) was born in Tulsa in 1937. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Diane and son Will. The middle of three boys, Dean's parents Elsie and Don and his elder brother Carl preceded him in death. Dean's youngest brother David and David's children Grant, Craig, Angela, Allison and Chase also survive. Dean graduated from Central High School and Tulsa University. He attended the University of Kansas City School of Dentistry and joined his father's practice in Tulsa. In time he also began a private practice in Vinita as well as served as the dentist for Eastern State Hospital. He retired from dentistry to work on his farm outside Vinita as well as to pursue his many hobbies. He met the love of his life, Betty, at the office in Tulsa. They began a family while they were working on one of the first of many home remodels. While the children were growing up they flew all over the US. Dean continued rebuilding and upgrading his aircraft and toy trains throughout his life. The weekends were filled with lots of projects or travel. Over the years Dean had many good friends and hobbies to share. He loved to fly, collect toy trains and restore aircraft, cars and tractors. He restored an Air Force training aircraft from the 1950's and was awarded best in the world restored T-34 Warbird at the Oshkosh fly in. He built several model train boards that filled rooms. He was always rebuilding, fixing or remodeling something. If he wasn't flying, building or fixing, he was at least talking about it. He loved telling stories. He was active in the Flying Dentists and tried not to miss the fly ins and airshows in Oshkosh and Florida. During his second retirement he rebuilt a much more intricate train board and enjoyed tinkering in the hangers or traveling with Betty in their restored Airstream trailer. He was alway looking to the horizon in life, ready to chart his own way to the next adventure. Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 18, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
