Charles S. Ayers

Charles Stanley Ayers was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 13, 1941, and was the son of Annabelle Ayers and Grover C. Ayers. He was welcomed home by our Lord on October 10, 2023, at 4:05 in the afternoon. He joins his parents and his siblings: Grover C. Ayers Jr., Virginia Louise Runnels, and James Eugene Ayers. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Shirley Griggs Ayers and his three children: Charles Robert Ayers and wife Teresa, Anna Ayers Fox and husband Terry, and Rebecca Ayers Dotson and husband Harold. He leaves behind his 9 grandchildren Ryan Fox, Charlie Ayers, Jonah Fox and wife Brooke, Jennifer Dotson, Sarah Fox and husband Paul, Harold Dotson, Alaina Ayers, Kyle Ayers, and Nathan Ayers, 2 great-grandchildren, Rory and Rose Fox. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Margaret Moore and brother-in-law Gail Runnels. He also leaves behind several nephews and nieces as well as a faithful caregiver: Tracy Thompson Dean. Charles grew up within Glenwood Baptist church, where he met his wife Shirley, and was a lifelong member of the Southern Baptist church. Within the church he served faithfully as a deacon and treasurer throughout the years. He graduated from Central High school in 1960, and following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for 4 years. While in the service he found an interest in computers and programing. After his service was completed, he found a job as a systems analyst for the Bank of Oklahoma and later went on to utilize his expertise at Williams company and Mapco. Upon his retirement he went to work at the Tulsa County Election Board and wrote their payroll programing system. He loved spending time with his wife Shirley, and they had many adventures throughout the United States and even ventured to England, France, and Scotland. He had many joys in this life including watching Gunsmoke, wood working, antiquing, and dabbling in real estate. The remainder of his life was spent alongside his wife at Saint Simeon's where he enjoyed playing Bingo, watching Gunsmoke, watching OU Football and talking to his wife on the phone. He was known to be a very generous, caring, and kind man. He will be dearly missed but he is rejoicing and celebrating amongst the angels along with our Lord Jesus Christ. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please send in donations to John 3:16 to continue to help those in need and spread the Word of the Gospel. Visitation will be 6-8PM, Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn, Tulsa. Memorial Service will be 4:00 P.M., Friday, October 13, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
