Charles Newby Chittom

March 7, 1928 - February 12, 2022

Charles N. Chittom of Tulsa, Oklahoma was born in Leland, Mississippi to Culley Sebastian and Vada (Burns) Chittom on March 7th, 1928. He passed on from this life at the age of 93 and eleven months on February 12th, 2022 at The Grove at Midtown Care Facility in Tulsa. Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother Jimmy Chittom, two sisters, Jane (Chittom) Barrett of Annapolis, Maryland and Rebecca Dawkins of Leland, Mississippi, his wife June (Kimmel) Chittom and one son, James Michael Chittom. He is survived by his daughter Jan (Chittom) Brasher and her husband Richard of Gore, Oklahoma. Two granddaughters, Michelle (Brasher) Schneider and husband Robert of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Jessica Brasher of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Dillon Horn of Tulsa, Rachel Horn of Ardmore and Kaleb Schneider of Ardmore, with one more great grandchild on the way. Charles served in the U.S. Army twice. He was involved in the reconstruction effort in Germany just after WWII and served again state-side during the Korean conflict. He owned and operated several manufacturing businesses, most notably Chittom Equipment Company which later became Chittom International, Inc. He was active in the Tulsa Downtown Rotary Club, an active philanthropist for many charities and was an accomplished musician. He loved hunting, fishing, music, traveling for business and pleasure. He also wrote and published a book entitled, "Right Place, Right Time." All who knew him, knew him as a most generous and caring person. He will be missed by all.
