Obituary

CRONE, E. Wesley, age 90, retired employee of American Airlines,
died Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Born November 21, 1923 in Tell, TX to Henry and Hattie Crone. He grew up in Altus, OK where he met and courted Helen Little. They were married June 13, 1942 in Long Beach, CA where he was employed at Douglas Aircraft Co. Wesley took pride in telling others that they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in June, 2008 (shortly before Helen's death), but they were sweethearts for 69 years! During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps in the maintenance of B-17 aircraft. After the war, he graduated from Sparten School of Aeronautics in 1947 then was employed by American Airlines for thirty-six years in various positions from Jr. Mechanic to Manager of 747 Maintenance Planning. He retired in 1983.
After retirement, he was a fan of tennis and played the game with a great group of guys several days each week. Wes often expressed gratitude
for all the people he has been associated with in the various stages of his life, especially his loving wife, other family members, and his many friends. Wes was a charter member of North Sheridan Church of Christ and served as an elder. He loved teaching and song leading for the church. Currently he was a member of 29th and Yale Church of Christ since 2001. He is survived by son, Michael Crone and wife, Barbara of Fairview, PA; daughter, Brenda Moore of El Cajon, CA; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; sister, Edith Smithee; brothers, L. D. Crone, Frank C. Crone, Gordon W. Crone; and son-in-law, Larry Moore.
Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Monday, July 7, 2014 at Moore's Southlawn. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 29th and Yale Church of Christ, 2901 S. Yale Ave., Tulsa with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Wesley was a tender-hearted Christian man who loved God and all his family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest, taking every opportunity God gave him to teach, lead and love others. We will love and miss him always.
