Joyce Cromer Williams

May 18, 1931 - April 14, 2022

Joyce Williams was born in West Plains, Missouri on May 18, 1931 to Ardith and Jacob Cromer. She passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, TX on April 14, 2022, just one month shy of her 91st birthday. She graduated in 1949 from Will Rogers High School. There she met her husband of 54 years, Tommy Williams, a 1948 graduate. They married on April 7, 1950 and made their home in Tulsa where they raised their three daughters, Sandi, Sharon and Susan. She was a wonderful wife and mother and was the ultimate homemaker and ran a very tight ship. Her home and lawn were always immaculate. She was an accomplished gardener and an excellent cook. She loved high school activities and was active in reunions and communications with her classmates for many years. She and Tommy loved to dance and were accomplished jitterbug dancers. Several of her high school friends took tap dancing class later in life and performed at high school reunions. At age 74, she and some of her classmates performed on the sidewalks in New York City. In 2014, Joyce left Tulsa for Houston, Texas to be near her daughters. She made her new home at the Abbey, an independent living facility in Houston. It was there she met George Dayhoff, and they were married in 2016 and enjoyed six wonderful years together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ardith and Jacob Cromer; her husband Tommy Williams; her brother J.F. Cromer and wife Ann; grandson Bryant Warde; and great-granddaughter Avery Canahuati. She is survived by three daughters, Sandi Warde and husband Steve of New Braunfels, TX; Sharon Williams and husband Gary Huffaker of Dunedin, FL; Susan Wright and husband Tom of Missouri City, TX. In addition, Joyce is survived by six grandchildren, Matt Wright and his wife Melannie of Orlando, FL; Drew Wright and his wife Stacy of Orchard Park, NY; Megan Karlish and her husband John of Tulsa, OK; Laura Canahuati and her husband Mike of Austin, TX; Alison Hamm and her husband John of St Petersburg, FL; and Adam Huffaker and his partner Sara Sapp of Palm Harbor, FL. She is survived by ten great-grandchildren, who brought much joy to her. Services will be on June 25 at 10:00am in the Chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial. Immediately following, guests are invited to greet the family at a reception in the Family Center.
