Emma Sue Swain Callahan

March 22, 1932 - November 27, 2021

Emma Sue Swain Callahan was born on March 22, 1932 to Nooel James Sale and Artie Belle Woody Sale in Sperry, OK. The family moved from Tulsa to a small family farm to preserve financial assets during the great depression. During those few years in Sperry, Emma "Sue", was born. At the age of 4, Sue and her family moved back to Tulsa. Sue attended Pershing Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High School, and graduated from Central High School in 1950 as part of the Nifty Class of '50 graduating class. Sue married Raymond Glenn Swain in 1950 at First Christian Church, Tulsa, wearing a beautiful slipper satin wedding gown that was purchased from Miss Jackson's of Tulsa. Raymond and Sue had two daughters, Glenda Suchy and Gloria Jones. Sue was a gifted teacher and gave generously of her time and talent. Beginning in the 1950s, Sue volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher for 40 years. Professionally, she was a Weight Watcher Leader/Instructor for over 10 years. In 2005, Sue became an accredited ACBL Bridge Instructor, and taught bridge for over a decade. Her vocal cord cancer in 2017 slowed her teaching ability, but it did not slow her from enjoying bridge and entertaining. Sue was also gifted in hospitality! She began drinking coffee at the age of 4, and always had a cup of coffee ready for any guest that came to her home. She loved entertaining in her home, loved to play duplicate contract bridge, and loved the Lord. After 46 years of marriage with Raymond, Sue became a widow. A few years later she met and married Cliff Callahan, a widower of 14 years and a bridge player. Cliff and Sue were a joy to everyone they met! For 23 years, they traveled, played bridge, enjoyed numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue was blessed with two beautiful marriages. Sue is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She blessed us with 89 years and taught us that faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the most important life lesson. Viewing will be 5p-7p, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Graveside services will be 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Memorial service will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Kirk of the Hills, 4102 E. 61st, Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts may be made to Kirk of the Hills. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
