Tommy Jerol Weathers was born in Kermit, Texas February 4, 1938 to Ernest Weathers and Eunice Bullard Weathers. His father Ernest was killed in the oil field when Tom was 6 months old and left Eunice a widow with 2 sons under the age of 2 at age 19. She later married Clyde Baxter and together they raised 3 sons, Homer, Tom, and Ron. Tom was raised on a farm in Western Oklahoma and graduated from high school in 1956 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He died Sunday January 24th, 2021 at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa, at the age of 82.
He married Rubye Erwin January 29, 1977. They lived in the Tulsa area until buying a home in Broken Arrow May 10, 2008. Tom & Rubye sold their home and moved into the Parke assisted living facility 3 years ago, where Rubye is living now.
He was preceded in death by his mother and 2 fathers and his 1st wife Rose Lee, mother of 2 of his kids. Tom raised 4 kids: Tommy, Bobby, Tammy, and Terri. He also raised 2 granddaughters: Brittany and Courtney. He has 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren of which are in the Tulsa, Oklahoma & Ft Worth, Texas areas.
He had a love for welding from his Uncle Tom and opened B & W Manufacturing Co. April 1, 1964. His 1st welding job was fabrication of Cozy Glow fire places and then started building Hasty bake ovens. He was asked to build a spiral stair, of which he did not know how to build, but he told the customer he would figure it out and he did... That was the beginning of the stairs & handrails. Then he started building structural & miscellaneous steel, and cattle working equipment later in the business. Even after retiring in 2015, he was still very involved in the shop. His work can be seen all over the Tulsa area. He sold the business March 1, 2020.
He had a zest for life and he never met a stranger. Everyone he came in contact with loved him. His favorite thing in life was his family 1st, then hunting, fishing, & camping. He bought a motor home 6 years ago and used it for traveling across the country, as well as camping at the lake. He loved hunting because he could be in the woods (his happy place) where it was quiet and he could just think and watch nature. He also loved jug lining for big catfish with his brother-in-law at Keystone and Grand Lakes.
