Virgil Leon Halcomb

March 26, 1942 - May 21, 2022

Virgil Leon Halcomb, age 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, retired engineer, preacher and master carpenter passed away May 21, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Priscilla, and their children David (Claudine), Stephen (Jamey), Joanna, Mark (Mia), Susanna, Rebekah, and Joel (Helena), grandkids Tiffany, Nicholas, Matthew, Christopher, Heather, Ryan, John, Drake, Allena, Samuel, Benjamin, Miriam, Eriech, and Makayla, and (currently) four great grandkids. He took God's instructions in Genesis 1:28 very seriously. Leon was born in McCune, Kansas on March 26, 1942, the second of four children of Charles and Doris Halcomb. The family moved to Tulsa in 1948. Leon graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1960 and from the University of Tulsa as a mechanical engineer in 1965. He worked for Rockwell and Lockheed before moving on to civil engineering and carpentry. On July 30, 1965, he married Priscilla Marie Bartels. They had their first two children in Tulsa, before mission activities took him to Texas, where another 5 children were born. The family also lived in Kansas, Oregon, South Carolina and Georgia before finally returning to the Tulsa area in 1992. He was a devout Christian who read his Bible daily, preached and taught his children the love of the Lord. He loved fishing, his TV shows, helping his children with projects around their houses, and to sit quietly playing FreeCell amid large, chaotic family get-togethers. Please join us in celebrating his life at 10am on Thursday, May 26 at Moore's Memory Chapel at 1403 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St Francis Hospice on his behalf.
