Obituary

Adele Margaret Stromberg Garren January 7, 1921 June 11,2020
Adele was born in Queens, NY, the only child of Allan and Adeline (Koblank) Stromberg. At a young age her family moved to Denver, CO, which became her favorite place on earth. She graduated from Denver University with an art degree. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and served as her chapter's president.

After graduation she worked for the FBI where she met a charming FBI agent, Bennie C. Garren. They were married June 14, 1944. After living in Denver, they moved to Oklahoma City for a short time and then to Tulsa. There they raised four children: Bruce, Richard, Philip, and Barbara.

Adele was a talented artist and shared her gift in many ways. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where is she was a member of the Altar (Flower) Guild, St. Barbara's Guild and the Craft Guild. She was a charter member of the Saint Simeon's Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Doctor's Hospital gift shop.

Always smiling and never meeting a stranger, she enjoyed entertaining friends and family and loved gardening. Everything she planted thrived - she truly had a 'green thumb.' One of her greatest joys was spoiling her grandchildren, to whom she was 'Muggie.'

Adele loved traveling here and in Europe, but her heart always remained in her Colorado mountains. As a young girl she even worked on a dude ranch in Estes Park taking guests on horseback rides. Life was always an adventure and she lived it to fullest for 99 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bennie; son, Bruce and wife, Linda; son, Philip and wife Sonja; and daughter, Barbara Garren-Stratman. She is survived by son, Richard and wife, Karen; son-in-law John Stratman; grandchildren, Justin Garren, Evie Garren, and Ben Stratman; and great granddaughter, Addison Garren.

A private family service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church. The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Saint Simeon's Assisted Living Center who cared for her for over eight years and became her extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Simeon's,
3701 N. Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd, Tulsa, OK 74106.
