Obituary

Alan Dale Durland, 95, of Tulsa, was born September 4th, 1924 to Dennison and Gertrude Durland, in Cisco, TX. He passed away peacefully Sunday, February 23rd at the Oklahoma Veterans Administration in Claremore, OK.
As a member of the "Greatest Generation" growing up during the Depression and then serving in the US Army Medical Service in the Philippines during WWII and later during Korean conflict attached to the US Army 325th Hospital Train/57th Medical Battalion, he traveled through Allied-occupied Germany as an officer. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Delta Masonic Lodge #425 and the Scottish Rite.
After college, Alan was hired by G.C. Parker and had a long career for Parker Drilling Company working in accounting, purchasing and operations then transferring into Parker's International Division moving his family to Lima, Peru and later to Majorca, Spain as an Operations Manager. He finished his career as Director of Human Resources & Development in Tulsa.
Alan married the love of his life Miss Betty Ross Belt on June 4th, 1949 in Tahlequah, OK and moved to Tulsa, where they raised their five children. He and his family traveled the globe, making many lifelong friends. Sadly in 1989, he lost Betty. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers: Glenn, Jack, Taylor and David Durland, his son Vince Durland and grandson Brett Durland. He is survived by his children: Gary, Brian and Rob Durland, and Marcy Kissinger, and his grandchildren: Clark Durland, Aleks Kissinger, Lauren Durland, Kaley Jobe, Ross Durland, Bridgette Durland and Abby Durland with great-grandchildren: Gabe, Allison, Kensley, and Tate.
Alan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a man of few words, but his words either had deep meaning or added a little comedy to many situations. The most recent comical remark was when the nurse asked to take his blood pressure. Alan said, "Why, are you checking to see if I have one?", joking right up until his last day.
