Alberta Ruth Mixon, fondly known as Berta, was born on December 30, 1934, in Sterling, Oklahoma, to J A and Mellie Darden. She peacefully passed away on February 20, 2024, at the age of 89, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Alberta was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Throughout her life, Alberta displayed a vibrant and adventurous personality. She was outgoing, loved to travel, and cherished her church family. Alberta's passion for sewing and crafting brought joy to many, as she lovingly created items for those around her. She also found solace in music, often playing her organ and singing.
In her career, Alberta dedicated herself to the healthcare field. She served as an x-ray tech and nurse's aide in Louisiana and Tulsa for many years before transitioning to become a phlebotomist, for the latter part of her career.
Alberta found comfort and community at Regency Park Church of the Nazarene, where she worshiped and connected with others who shared her faith.
Her hobbies included embroidery, sewing, and playing music. Alberta cherished moments spent playing Farkle with her close friends. She will be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family.
Alberta is survived by her son, Steve Mixon, and his wife, Renee Mixon, as well as her grandchildren Kathy, Angel, Terrance, Chris, Mike, and Mark. She also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Mixon, her son, Robert Lynn, and several siblings.
A memorial service to celebrate Alberta's life will be held at Regency Park Church of the Nazarene, 8707 East 51st Street South, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145, on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Regency Park Church in honor of Alberta's memory.
