Alice Lucile Kaufman Powers, 81, of Owasso, OK went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2016. She was born to Homer and Elsie Margaret (Lander) Kaufman on February 12, 1935 in Heyworth, IL.
Alice graduated from Heyworth High School in 1953. She received her RN from Brokaw
Hospital, Bloomington, IL and her BSN degree from Illinois Westlyn School of Nursing. Alice attended Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL, where she met her future husband. She also worked at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
She married John M. Powers in 1958, and they were happily married for 58 years.
Alice was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a nurse at St John Hospital before becoming a school nurse for Tulsa Public Schools at Edison Sr. High School. She eventually chose to give up her nursing career to serve alongside her husband in his ministry at Christview Christian Church. She served there in a variety of ways: leading Bible Bowl, teaching ladies Bible studies, cooking Wednesday night dinners on a shoestring budget, and serving on the missions committee, just to name a few. Alice's far reaching influence was largely due to her servant's heart.
In addition to her loving husband John, Alice is survived by their two children: daughter Gay (Powers) Adams and her husband Mark of Prairieville, LA; and son Brent and his wife Charmin (Scott) Powers of rural Altoona, KS.
She is also survived by three dear grandchildren: Kaila (Adams) Martin and her husband Josh; Jared Adams; and Karali Powers. Alice was eagerly anticipating her first great-granddaughter, expected in January 2017.
She is survived by her sister, Lois (Kaufman) Evans and her husband Don; her brother Earl Kaufman and his wife Diane; and her brother, Ralph Kaufman.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, September 9th, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, 0K.
