Alicia Naifeh, 96, graduated from the terrestrial to the celestial life (as she said when her husband passed) on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in Tulsa, OK. She was born November 13, 1921, to Iskander and Fahda Razook in Mexico City, Mexico and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil where her parents immigrated from Lebanon, fleeing civil war.
As a young woman, she nurtured a desire to come to the United States. On her second trip to the US in 1956, she met and married her husband, Amon, and became a naturalized citizen, an accomplishment she was proud of all of her life.
The focus of her life was the care and raising of her three daughters. Alicia was a devoted wife and mother and a talented seamstress, crafting several lovely outfits for her young daughters. She was a member of the local Extension Homemakers Club and the Calligraphy Guild of Tulsa. She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a lifelong devotee to St. Therese the Little Flower, her "miracle saint".
Alicia retired from The University of Tulsa McFarlin Library. She was proud of the fact that her employment there enabled all three of her children to graduate from TU and often remarked "We are a TU Family!"
Alicia is survived by daughters, Kathy Heinz and husband, David, of Tulsa, OK, Margie Taylor and husband, Brad, of Tulsa, OK, and Susanne Pickering and husband, Millard, of Sapulpa, OK; brother, Alberto Razook, of Sao Paulo, Brazil; 3 grandchildren, Madison, Kendal and Kamran Taylor; several nieces and nephews and their families; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Amon Naifeh; sisters, Mona and Alexandra; and brothers, George and Ralph.
The family extends their gratitude to Tish Stuart of My Choice in Home Care, and our caregiving angels, Tonya Buyckes and Lucy Dunn, who enriched the quality of our mom's life and gave us all so much joy and peace of mind.
Those who knew Alicia know what a remarkable woman she was. She had a delightful sense of humor and was a humble woman of unshakable faith, endless gratitude, and a sweet, loving and gracious spirit. These qualities remained with her always. Her love for the church, her family and this country never failed. We will always have the beautiful memory of her often repeated words: "What a wonderful country, God Bless America, we couldn't ask for more".
