Obituary

Allen Garrett Gelwick, Jr., 96, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2017. He was born July 7, 1921 in Bristow, OK to Allen G. Gelwick, Sr. and Lenora (Foster) Gelwick.
Allen attended Bristow High School and graduated in 1943 from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Accounting. He served in the US Navy as Lt. JG in the Caribbean from June 21, 1943 to January 25, 1946. On a weekend pass, Allen married the love of his life, Hulda Bertha Juedeman on October 24, 1943. After his tour of duty, Allen worked for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. and Getty-Tidewater Oil Company. From 1963 to September 14, 2017, Allen had a private CPA practice for 54 years. He was a former member of Trinity Methodist Church and Brookside Lions Club.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Ryan Thomas Swift, wife Hulda, and brother, Dr. Richard Lee Gelwick. He is also survived by 2 children, son, Dr. Phillip Gelwick (Susan), and daughter, Marsha Swift (Don). His legacy leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Betsy Bailey Fellwock (Michael), Amy Elizabeth Bailey, Jill Bailey Garcia (Jeromy), Pamela Gelwick Oliver (John), Christopher Douglas Gelwick, Laura Swift Waggoner (Josh) and Andrew Allen Swift; 7 great-grandchildren: Connor Charlton Bailey (April), Bailey Thomas Garcia, Beckett Jeromy Garcia, Luke Allen Oliver, William Asher Oliver, Anna Kate Waggoner and Ellis Ryan Lee Waggoner; 2 great-great grandchildren: Quinton Ramsay and Leila Mae Bailey. Dad was the loving patriarch and anchor of our family.
The family would like to thank God first and foremost, the staff at Clarehouse and Rivercross Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boy Scout Troop 571, 1st Church of God, 302 Walnut Street, Bristow, OK 74010 or Clarehouse, 7617 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.
Visitation Thursday, October 5, at Moore's Rosewood Chapel. Private family graveside service, Magnolia Cemetery in Bristow. Memorial service 1 P.M. Friday, October 6, Asbury United Methodist Church, Mason Chapel, 6767 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.
