Alta Mae (Brown) Oxford, age 89, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on May 18th, 2026. She was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on April 1st, 1937 to Gracie Leona (Scott) Brown and Thomas Franklin Brown. Alta married Junior Oxford in 1958.

Alta was a homemaker while raising five children. Once they were all in High School, she worked 2nd shift at Zebco making fishing reels. She later retired in order to spoil her grandchildren. She loved to be outside gardening and caring for animals of many types. She also enjoyed attending garage sales and flea markets as well as playing Bingo with her daughters and grandchildren. She and her husband Junior loved to take trips to the casino, even as far as going to Las Vegas. She was joyful and fun to be around but was also stubborn.

Alta is survived by her brother Delmar "Cupe" Brown as well as her sister and brother-in-law Allie Mae "Biggie" and Bill Johnson. She is also survived by her five children, Elizabeth and Butch Mitchell, Karla and Gary Burr, Frank and Julie Oxford, Gracie Smith and Tina and Danny Woolsey. Alta is loved by her eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Alta was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Junior Oxford, her parents, sisters Ted Sutterfield, Martha Keck, and brothers Edgar, A.J. and Huey Brown.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Graveside Service will be held at Brent Cemetery in Gans, Oklahoma.
