Obituary

Amanda Elisabeth Filenko, 32, of Keller, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 12, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Born in North Richland Hills, Texas, on September 1, 1982, Amanda grew up in Keller, TX and graduated in 2000 from Keller High School. After attending some college, she worked as a chef in North Texas. She moved to Austin, TX in 2006, where she began a rewarding career in the insurance industry as a licensed claims adjuster with Progressive. She met her loving husband and soul mate, Andrew Filenko, while working at Progressive in Austin. Sharing a passion for adventure, motorcycles, tattooing, and art, she married Andrew after several years together, on June 12, 2014.

A free spirit with a tender, caring heart, Amanda lived a life full of adventure, kindness, and compassion. She was intensely loyal, furiously in charge, dynamic, and blessed with an inner beauty that touched all those around her. She loved working around the house with her husband, and spending time together with their dogs, Cracker, Bam-Bam, Kobe, and Sayde. She enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping, riding her motorcycle across the countryside, traveling to the California coast at San Francisco, Big Sur and Point Reyes with her brother. She cherished riding horses with her mother, and was known by all who knew her as a hard worker who took enormous pride in all her professional endeavors, a quality instilled in her by her father.

Nothing was more important to Amanda than her family, and her kindness and loving heart will always live with the loved ones she left behind, especially her husband Andrew Filenko, residing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her parents Mike and Emily Cato and her brother Jason Cato of Keller, Texas, and all her friends and extended family members who are blessed to have known her.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 24, from 3pm-6pm, at the Palace Arts Center and Lancaster Theatre in downtown Grapevine, at 300 S. Main Street, Grapevine, TX 76051. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at 1406 Winona Ct, Roanoke, TX 76262.
