Anita Astrid Pannell
April 9, 1957 - May 25, 2023
Mama to Jennifer, Amy and David.
Mother-In-Law to Josh.
Gramma to Maria, Braden, Parker, Briana, Cason, and Aryanna.
Great Gma to Levi and Angelica.
More than anything, she loved her kids and grandkids. She kept a chair in the trunk of her car to make sure she always had a seat on the sidelines of her grandchildren's sports events. She wouldn't miss a football or soccer game. She sat for countless hours at wrestling tournaments. She would always ride with the family to out of town events to watch her granddaughter sing. She never missed an orchestra performance. If one of her grandkids had an important event, Gramma came! If one of her three children needed her, she showed up!
There wasn't a holiday she didn't put her heart into gifts for her family. She would meticulously choose gifts for each person. She would coordinate the wrapping paper, ribbons and bows. She would attach special decorative pieces on each gift that was special to that person and wrapping paper theme. Her gifts were so beautiful, and perfectly wrapped, you would admire the wrapped gift itself before opening it. She always made goody bags for the kids for Valentine's Day, Easter and Halloween. She gave each child a decorated bag full of candy, snack items and small gifts. She would put their names on each bag, line them up, and take a picture of them. She would send that picture with a caption "Gramma has the goody bags ready!" Even her adult grandchildren would get excited that she still made them a special goody bag.
She loved to write. She had perfect, distinctive handwriting. She kept several journals. She wrote about the holidays, her dreams, quotes she loved from movies and TV shows, and poetry. These journals are a gift of comfort now! She was incredible!
She loved snowy days and rain. If snow was in the forecast she would text her kids "It's suppose to snow, open the mini blinds!" When rain and thunderstorms were coming, she would make sure they all knew to have candles out and ready in case they need them.
She loved Christmas music. You could find her listening to Christmas music any time of the year. She loved to read Janet Oke books and listen to Taylor Swift. She would watch her favorite movies over and over. When her kids were young, they watched "Little House on the Prairie" with her for years. It was one of her all time favorite shows. Recently, her favorite show was "Mike and Molly". At any time you could find one of her kids watching it with her over and over.
She was a very intelligent, hard working, dependable person. She worked minimum 40 to 50 hours a week. She was a business office manager at Amedisys Home Health. While she was a hard worker and loved her job, she would want her remembrance to be flooded with memories of her as a mom, grandmother, sister and friend. If you knew her, you knew she was the hardest working person you would ever meet.
Her final wishes were made clear and simple. She had everything finalized so her kids didn't have to make these decisions. She asked that we have a "Celebration" and not a sad funeral. She asked that her grandson, Braden, read her eulogy. She hoped everyone would come wearing bright, happy colors. If you knew her and want to share a memory of her, there will be that chance for anyone that wants to speak.
