Obituary

Anna "Sue" Lawrence, 82, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. She was born on May 16, 1943, in Southwest City, Missouri, to Ralph Liston and Evelyn Yates.

After the loss of her father at a young age, Sue was lovingly raised by her stepfather, Delmar Yates, who she called her daddy.

Sue dedicated over 50 years of her life to the United Way, beginning her career there straight out of high school. She deeply believed in the organization's mission and was passionate about helping others and strengthening her community.

She was a founding member of Southwood Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended and spent many years teaching Sunday school, touching countless lives through her faith and kindness.

Sue had a gift for seeing beauty in the world. She was an incredible photographer who loved capturing her family, the city of Tulsa, and all of God's creations. She also expressed her love through cooking, always preparing dishes for those around her, and was known for her generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand.

In 1970, Sue married the love of her life, Jon Lawrence. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and travel. They remained devoted to one another until Jon's passing in 2001.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Liston and Evelyn Yates; her stepfather, Delmar Yates; her beloved husband, Jon Lawrence; and her sister, Marilyn Murphree.

She is survived by her sister, June Caldwell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her nephews, Matthew Cox-Jones, Tim Cox, Corey Caldwell, and Mike Murphree; and extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.

Sue will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, her creativity, and her unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service that will not be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Southwood Baptist Church, 4020 S. 102nd E. Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tulsa Area United Way in honor of Sue's lifelong commitment to serving others.
