Anne Louise (Hibbs) Webb, 99, of Tulsa, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016. She was born March 2, 1916 in Cairo, Il to Russel R. and Anna (Schuler) Hibbs. At the age of six, with parents and younger sister, Helen Maurine, she moved to Cape Girardeau, MO where she grew up, attended school and graduated Central High School in 1933 and Southeast MO State College in 1937. Anne received a B.S. degree in Ed and taught Music, Literature and Drama in schools in Missouri. She played violin in the college orchestra and sang in college opera productions as well as church choirs for many years. She sang in the Sanctuary Choir of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tulsa and the Silver Chords in Tulsa to the age of 90.
In 1941, Anne married Lowell E. (Hank) Webb. In December of that year (Pearl Harbor), Hank enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Two years later, Anne joined the Navy WAVES, teaching Navy and Marine Pilots "Instrument Flight" and "Radio Navigation." She was stationed in the Opa-locka, Florida Naval Air Station until war's end.
In 1948, the Webbs, now with daughter Linda, moved to Tulsa. Anne taught in the Tulsa Public Schools for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by husband Hank and daughter Emily Ruth Arthur. She was truly blessed by her many friends and survived by her brother Russell Hibbs of Beachwood, OH and daughters Linda Lou Pepera of Phoenix, AZ and Melissa Ann Webb of Tulsa.
In lieu of flowers gifts may be given to First Christian Church Budget Contingency Fund or First Christian Church Music Dept.
