Audrey Kay Maas, age 81 of Tulsa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born to the late William Wilder and Elizabeth Adams on March 28, 1937, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Kay spent most of her formative years in Bettendorf, Iowa and attended Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa where she obtained a bachelor degree in education. She worked for the national Girl Scout organization and dedicated the remainder of her professional career teaching. Her deep love for all children spanned over thirty years from kindergarten to fifth grade, with her longest tenure at Penn Elementary in North Tulsa, Ok.

The two loves in her life were her family and her church. Kay met Dean Maas on a blind date at the local roller rink in Bettendorf, Iowa when they were sophomores in high school. They married seven years later and celebrated 58 years together in 2017. As the spouse of a Lutheran minister, she was a significant partner, along with her husband, through music and Sunday school. One of their most enjoyable trips was to Germany and the Holy Land by way of a Mediterranean cruise down the Nile.

Family and friends remember her for her pleasant smile, quiet nature and love for anything red, including her little two-seat sports car. She said many times her favorite part of her job was the ability to spend every summer together with her children, Jill and Jon.

Kay is survived by her husband, Dean William Maas; daughter Jill (Gordon) Backman and Jon Maas; grandchildren, Gordon Dean, Taylor, Jon Ryan, Jackson, and Jordon.

Her mother, father, and one brother preceded Kay in death.

Visitation will be Monday, January 8, 2018, from Noon to 8 p.m., Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel, Tulsa. Committal service will be held 11 am, at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm held at Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S. Sheridan, Tulsa, OK .
