Marlene Backstrom, a long time resident of the Tulsa area, passed away on July 14th, 2018 at St. John's Hospital.

Born in 1947 in Altamont, IL.,Marlene graduated from Evergreen Park High School in 1965. Shortly thereafter, she met and fell in love with George Backstrom. They married on June 18th, 1966 and quickly began to raise a family in Hazelcrest. They moved to Tulsa, OK., in 1983 and opened their transferred Renaissance Christian Book Shop.

Marlene also worked for many years as a server for Bodean's Restaurant and eventually as a Restaurant Manager for the Monteraeu Retirement Village.

Marlene loved cooking and baking, enjoyed spending time with her good friends and family, and had the most tremendous laugh that lit up any event. Marlene always made everyone feel warm, welcome and loved.

She is survived by her son, Lon Backstrom and her grandchildren, Amber Bartel, Wade Wenaas, Marlena Gastineau, Nicole Gastineau and Chris Gastineau. Also, several great grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to her.

Marlene was a soul like no other, she will forever be missed.
