Barbara Baughn's Obituary
Barbara Lee (Paxton) Baughn, born in Newport, Arkansas on November 22, 1942 to Fred and Mamie Paxton, passed from this life on June 18, 2020 at the age of 77 in Tulsa, OK. She graduated with a Bachelors of Education degree with a minor in journalism & radio from Arkansas State University. She taught in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and South America.
On June 7, 1964, Barbara married Mack Baughn in Tuckerman, Arkansas at the Tuckerman Church of Christ. She taught English and learned Spanish. She also hosted a radio show in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She got an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Tulsa Junior College.
She loved her family, attending church services and being with her church family. She loved reading, humorous stories and videos, music, writing poetry, art, culture, journalism, giving, volunteering, traveling and finding the best bargain while shopping. She loved truth and justice. She was filled with loving compassion. Most importantly, she always loved, respected and stood up for God and Jesus while always making provisions to be in church every Sunday and Wednesday. The love that she gave to us and others throughout her lifetime will now be forever returned to her without end billions and billions-fold more through a loving God.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mamie Paxton. She is survived by her husband Mack Baughn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; children: Wade and his wife, Missy Baughn of Natchez, Mississippi, and her daughter Dr. Melanie Baughn of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren: Erika Baughn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chance Baughn of Denver, Colorado, and Shelby with her husband, Taylor York of Coweta, Oklahoma; her great-grandson, Cooper York of Coweta, Oklahoma; her sister, Freda and her husband, Bob Waters, of Huntsville, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Moore's Funeral Home Southlawn from 2-4 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 10 AM at the Stone Canyon Church of Christ in Owasso, OK. Barbara's interment will be at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma at 1 PM following the services.
