Beautiful, Loving, Kind

November 17, 1945 ~ September 26, 2017

Passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 26, 2017 having been comforted by the love of hospice, family and friends. Barbara Kay Armstrong was born in Oak Harbor, Washington on November 17th, 1945 from her mother Lavina Miami (Cook) Armstrong and her father William Dal (W.D.) Armstrong. Barbara grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Thomas Edison High School and later attended Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She was a beautiful, loving and kind woman who loved her family. She was an artist at heart as she loved music, gardening, painting and creating a beautiful home with many family memories. Barbara struggled her entire life with a brain condition that was never properly treated and affected her ability to perform normal daily tasks. However, she overcame these struggles, in part, from an incredible strength of character and sense of LOVE that she emulated and inspired her children and the people whom befriended her. Her loving heart is exemplified by her creative art, her love to meet new people, and how she expressed herself, which touched the lives and souls of countless people.

Barbara's life was unique, filled with struggles, which hardly anyone will ever appreciate. Most importantly though, her life is a shining example of GOD's power to persevere, endure and prevail over things that we may think we have no control over and that LOVE always prevails. My sister and I remember when we were young and would come home from school to see a porti0on of the front yard converted from barren brown dirt to a beautiful garden full of pansies, lilies and sunflowers of every imaginable color. THAT was our Mom - her LOVE was beautiful and we are blessed that she shared her LOVE with us. We miss her dearly; but, we know we will see her again and we are thankful she is now with GOD.

She leaves behind her son Eugene "Gene" Hayward Lash Jr., daughter Rhonda Kay Maxwell and husband David "Scott" Maxwell, five grandchildren (Garrett Lash-27, Keaton Lash-22, Ireland Lash-10, Cael Lash-8 and Delaney Lash-4) and three step-grandchildren (Clayton Maxwell-32 and his wife Amy Maxwell-32, Kristen Maxwell-23 and Scotty Maxwell-21) and two step-great-grandchildren (Leilani Maxwell-9 and Logan Maxwell-6), sister Susie Hodgson and husband Randy Hodgson and their four sons and families, brother W.D. Armstrong Jr.'s ex-wife Nelda Shepherd and three children and families and sister Linda Armstrong.
