Obituary

Barbara Ann Hutchinson, better known as "Nan", was born in London, Arkansas on February 9th, 1940 to Miles and Nona Price. On Monday afternoon, June 8th, 2020, Nan passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Barbara grew up in London, Arkansas with her parents and two sisters, where her family owned and ran a convenient store.

Barbara was the youngest of her siblings and so full of life as a child. In her teenage years Barbara moved with her family to Tulsa. She attended Will Rogers High School where she met the love of her life, Ronald Hutchinson. Barbara and Ronnie were married in a small spur of the moment ceremony surrounded by their parents, the preacher and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Barbara and Ronnie were blessed with two children, Ronda and Max Hutchinson.

As her children grew up, she ran a beauty shop out of their home; she later worked at Otasco until the store closed. She was a member of the Sheridan Avenue Methodist Church where she was involved in the youth group chaperoning ski, beach and lake trips. She loved hosting parties, holidays and family get-togethers of all kinds. Her home was a home for many and only strangers knocked on the door.

After her granddaughter, Destyn Lewis, was born in 1989, Barbara opened a daycare and from then on was known as our beloved "Nan". Over the next 20 years, and then some, Nan had many children whom she cared for and they all became hers. Nan loved cooking, crafting, and making sweet treats for all of the children. Some special meals included chocolate gravy and biscuits, her famous chocolate sheet cake and of course her famous sweet tea made with the pink packets. The tea out of Nan's glass was always sweeter according to the kids she cared for.

All of Nan's family, nieces and nephews, daycare kids, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her greatest joy in life.

Nan is survived by her son and his wife, Max and Karen Hutchinson of Owasso, OK, grandsons, Cody Hutchinson and Nathan Smith of Owasso, OK, granddaughter and her husband, Destyn and Trent Lewis of Owasso, OK, granddaughter, Tasha Wolf of Berryhill, OK, great-grandchildren, Ryann Lewis, Jaxon, Dylan and Peyton Wolf, as well as many other family members that love her dearly. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Nona Price, daughter, Ronda Hutchinson, sister and brother-in-law, Riley and Zerita Martin, sister, Johna Dell Knight, and her husband Ronald Hutchinson.

Nan was loved by all and will be missed dearly. She touched the lives of many and we will never forget the recipes and lessons that she taught us all. We are left with the peace that she is no longer confused or in pain but in Heaven with her loved ones.
