Barbara "Bobbie" Lane, 65, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on July 1, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Barbara "Bobbie" Lane was born on July 31,1958 to parents Everett and Barbara Brown. She was the 4th of five children having three older siblings, Cassie Sherrod, Tom Brown and Jeff Brown, and one younger sibling, James Brown.
Bobbie was born in Tulsa, OK, but moved to New Jersey at 2 weeks old and remained there for the majority of her childhood. It was here where she developed a deep love for the ocean. She returned to Tulsa at the age of 9 and attended Eliot Elementary School and Edison Preparatory Middle and High. She went on to study nursing at University of Tulsa, obtained her Paralegal certification from TJC (now TCC), a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Northeastern State University and a Masters in Public Health Administration from University of Oklahoma.
She started working for her father, Everett, at his family law practice as a secretary, which ignited her interest in the law and kickstarted a 38 year career as a Paralegal.
In 1976, Bobbie met Rick Lane at a chance meeting in Bristow, OK. It was love at first sight for Rick, who from that moment devoted all of his days to living for her. Bobbie and Rick married on June 10, 1978 and went on to have 3 girls, Chantel, Heather and Brittany. She loved being a "bonus mom" to all of her daughter's friends and opened her home to anyone who needed respite. Nothing brought her more joy than a houseful of happy kids whom she could cater to and comfort.
Bobbie had many passions, but she most enjoyed helping others and making a difference. She was active with both TALA and NALA, taught adjunct for the paralegal programs at TU, NSU, Rogers State University and TCC, was a member at Tulsa Dog Training Club and volunteered at many trials, volunteered with Hospice of Green Country and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was certified in Reiki, a certified hypnotist and practiced tai chi and yoga. As a lifelong animal lover, Bobbie enjoyed equestrian sports including English riding and hunter jumpers, training her beloved golden retrievers and papillon in obedience and agility and maintaining a house full of family pets that, at various points, included dogs, cats, fish, rats, lizards, ferrets, guinea pigs and several mallard ducks.
In 2020, Bobbie retired and spent her time enjoying her recently-built dream porch, reading books, watching her grandkids play and connecting with friends. She and Rick began taking day trips to visit small-town Oklahoma restaurants and exploring the state. Bobbie continued to teach classes for the paralegal program at TCC until the time of her passing.
Bobbie was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Barbara Brown, brother Tom Brown and sister Cassie Sherrod. She is survived by her husband, Rick Lane, daughters Chantel Chastain (Chester Chastain, Mason Chastain and Olivia Chastain), Heather Jahn (Nathan Jahn) and Brittany Taylor (Dalton Taylor, Thomas Taylor), and brothers Jeff Brown and James Brown (Gina Brown).
Services will be held at Asbury Church- Mason Chapel on July 6, 2024 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Green Country and Clarehouse, two organizations Bobbie felt strongly about.
