Barbara Jean Bridges Mason, affectionately known as "Granny," was born on June 9, 1930, in Checotah, OK, to Jesse Bridges and Margaret Wolf Bridges. She had one sibling, a brother, Willie Wesley.
Raised in the church, Barbara was a devoted member of Saint Monica's Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She remained faithful throughout her life, even when her health prevented her from attending in person. Her love for the Lord never wavered.
She completed her elementary, middle, and high school education at Saint Monica's.
On July 16, 1946, Barbara married Leroy Charles Mingilton, and from their union, two children were born: Jesse L. Mingilton and Anthony C. Mingilton Sr.
She began her career in the Tea Room at Brown Dunkin (now Dillard's). She later worked at Froug's Department Store, Zebco, and Lowrance Electronics before retiring from Sherwin-Williams.
In 1985, she married Christopher F. Mason, affectionately known as "Gramp." She became a dedicated homemaker and took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sunday dinners at their home became a cherished tradition for many. She and Gramp remained together until his passing in 2014.
Barbara enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and Bid Whist, and reading the Tulsa World Newspaper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Christopher, her son Jesse Mingilton, and her brother Willie Wesley. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Anthony C. Mingilton Sr., and his wife Marsha; her granddaughter, Toni M. Payne, and her husband Jarvis; her grandson, Anthony C. Mingilton Jr.; and her four great-grandchildren, Jarvis Payne Jr., Kennedy M. Payne, Jalen A. Payne, and Justin A. Payne.
A host of family and friends share in the deep sorrow of her passing.
