Barbara Lou Snelson died Tuesday March 19, 2013,at the age of 82 years old. Barbara was born in Tulsa, OK, to Ralph Augusta Snelson and Lucille Vetuski Snelson. She started school when she was 4 years old. She attended Lanier Elementary, Wilson Junior High and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1948, where she was an outstanding student.Barbara played the piano, was active in her church and was an enthusiastic Girl Scout, where she formed many long lasting friendships. Barbara graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1952 with a degree in Chemistry. She was the Office Manager at Coopers and Lybrand for many years. She retired in her mid-50's to care for her parents. She was active in the Republican Women's Club and had been a delegate to several Republican conventions. Barbara was a kind, generous, strong and fiercely independent woman. She was a life long learner and one time took a course in small engine repair. She had a life long love of animals and went out of her way to help people in need. She was preceded in death by her friend and companion, J.K.Taylor. She is survived by her cousins, Dorothy Mae Evans of Pearland, TX, Candy Panto and her husband Bill of Dripping Springs, TX., Wes Washam and his wife, Farrell Jean of Robert Lee, TX, many other cousins, many friends, her cats, Sophie, Abbie and Stringbean. A Memorial service will take place 11AM on Friday, March 22, 2013 at First Christian Church of Tulsa, 913 S. Boulder.
