Barbara Ann Orender Vaught passed away peacefully July 7, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born May 14, 1940 in Inola, Oklahoma to Stella (Bruce) and Charlie Orender.


Barbara attended Inola High School before continuing her extensive education at Northeastern State University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She enjoyed a career as a public educator and librarian in Kansas, OK, Chouteau, OK, Las Vegas, NV and Leonard, OK. She retired from education in both Oklahoma and Nevada before settling in Tulsa.


She met Dale Vaught in Inola and they were married on January 16, 1960. Together they have
three children: Annette, Bradley and Melissa. Barbara loved Christ, her family, traveling, reading, decorating, architecture and tracing her family's genealogy. She enjoyed playing basketball in her youth and was an avid fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder.


Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Stella Orender. She is survived by her husband, Dale of 63 years; daughter Annette Spencer of Tulsa; Brad Vaught and wife Lisa of Yukon, Melissa Vaught Crysler of Tulsa; sister Patricia Dunham of Inola, brother Donald Orender of Inola; five granddaughters (Lacy Williams & husband Josh of Tulsa, Jami Cazares & husband Israel of Tulsa, Allyson Spencer & fiance Thayvien Faison of Tulsa, Taylor Vaught Crysler of Tulsa and Mackie Vaught of Yukon); five great grandchildren (Christopher Spencer, Israel Romero Cazares Jr., Isabella Marie Cazares, London Allen Spencer and Thayvien Faison Jr.) and many other family and friends.


Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, July 10th from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel at 9350 East 51st Street in Tulsa. Please join us in celebrating her life at 10:30am Tuesday, July 11, 2023, also at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa with graveside following at Sweeten Cemetery in Inola.
