Our beloved mother, Barbara Foster Witt, passed away Thursday morning June 15, 2023 at 90 years of age.
Barbara Jean Foster was born on October 12, 1932, to Jake and Dorothy Foster in Marion, Kentucky, where she was raised along with her brothers Hadley, Buddy, Jerry and Jan Foster. She loved being the only daughter right in the middle of four boys.
Barbara attended Murray State College, where she met and married Alfred Greaud Witt. Their lives together included service in the U.S. Marine Corps, dental school in Memphis, and the birth of four children. Following the completion of dental school, Al and Barbara chose Tulsa, Oklahoma, to set up a practice and raise their children. Barbara lived in Tulsa for the rest of her life, almost 60 years. During that time, Barbara not only raised her children (Doug, Jaye, Bennet, and Dedi), but she was actively involved in the lives of her ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well. Barbara was also very successful in business, starting off in retail sales, she later became one of the top new home salespersons in Tulsa, and ultimately one of the top earners for Excel Telecommunications.
More than anything else, Barbara loved the Lord, Jesus. Her strong and genuine faith was central to everything she did, and she set a loving example for family and friends and anyone who touched her life. Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She was always the first person everyone turned to for prayer, and support. She cared about and loved each of us and is sorely missed.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Douglas Witt and wife Lea, Jaye Witt Briscoe and husband Brent, Bennett Witt and wife Rita and Dedi Witt Clark. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan Witt, Colin Witt, Zachary Briscoe and wife Mallory, Jacob Briscoe and wife Meredith, Witt Briscoe and wife Shelby, Grant Briscoe, Katie Clark Martin and husband Ryan, Foster Clark, Connor Clark, and Alexandra Witt. Her four great-grandchildren are Karson Briscoe, Hudson Briscoe, Leighton Witt, and Rhenlee Witt. She is also survived by her brother Jan Foster.
