Obituary

Beatrix Eshelman Jacobs, 58, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2015 in Tulsa, OK.

Her husband, Alan Louis Jacobs, a sister & brother-in-law, Cynthia Cairrel Eshelman Wade & Dwight Wade of Houston, TX and a brother & sister-in-law, Milton Bruce Eshelman and Bonnie Eshelman of Washington, NC, survives her.

Her parents, Harry Slater Eshelman and Janice Aubrey Slack Eshelman preceded her in death in 1991 and 2001.

She was born December 31, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bea graduated from Union High School in 1976 and Tulsa Junior College with an Associate Degree in Nursing.

After being single for 16 years, Beatrix fell in love with Alan and they were married September 7, 2000 overlooking the ocean in Mendocino, CA.

Her first job was at McDonald's ("Would you like a cherry pie with that?"). Then she was an oil and gas secretary at Mapco before becoming a Neonatal Nurse. She then worked at Hillcrest in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which she called her "dream job". She was drawn to taking care of premature babies, because she herself was a "preemie". After that she became a traveling nurse for 8 years and took care of premature babies in hospitals in CA, TX & NV. She loved babies and children of all ages.

She was crazy about dogs and loved her own like they were her children. Buddy, Moxie and Hannah Jayne (wiener dog) who preceded her in death, are greeting her at the rainbow bridge, if you believe that "all dogs go to heaven". Luther (wiener dog) and Mocha (brown lab) are still with Alan and are missing her so much now.

Beatrix was a craftsman and made baskets, beaded necklaces and intricate cross-stitch many of us samples of her work that we cherish. She loved music, especially the music her husband Alan made in his bluegrass band, Salt Creek. She was the proud attender of the Winfield Blue Grass Festival for 9 years and has the yearly patches on her Winfield jacket to prove it.

There was a time in her life when she as an avid or some people might even say "obsessive" runner. For 12 years, she ran 6 miles a day 6 times a week with a documented logbook of her runs. Beatrix completed the Tulsa Run and Corporate Challenge a number of times.

Her favorite movie was "It's a Wonderful Life" which is why she has the complete Bedford Falls Christmas Village. She was a life long fan of "The Andy Griffith Show" and sometimes she was called "Aunt Bea".

She loved her friends, aunts, uncles & cousins and they loved her. She was member of Tulsa First Foursquare (Encounter) Church and her faith sustained her.

Although Bea faced several chronic health problems and dealt with chronic pain since 2003, she fought to live the best life she could, despite those challenges.

In her childhood she was know as "Bitsy Boo" or just "Boo", because she was so tiny.

"And though she be but small, she was fierce". Shakespeare
