Obituary

Bernard E. "Bernie" Clark, 87, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born June 20, 1928, in Burr Oak, KS to parents Frank and Daisy (Friday) Clark and was the youngest of nine children.

After graduating from high school he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University in chemical engineering. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the chemical warfare department where he participated in the atomic bomb testing in New Mexico. While stationed at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, he met his future bride Paula "Nan" Sangster and they were married on December 21, 1952.

Shortly thereafter they moved to Tulsa, OK where Bernie completed his Master of Science degree in oil refining at the University of Tulsa. His career took him to Ponca City, OK; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Omaha, NB and Tulsa, OK where he retired after a successful and fulfilling career as a chemical engineer. He became actively involved in the national organization of Atomic Veterans and served as Commander for the state of Oklahoma.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Nan, of sixty two years; his daughter Cindy Rogers and husband Clayton; son Paul Clark and wife Lesa; grandchildren Matt Rogers and wife Sara, Adam Rogers and wife Stephanie, Meredith Smith and husband Derek and Andrew Clark. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to twins Eleanor and Lucas Smith.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Supplemental Aid Fund at Oklahoma Methodist Manor, 4134 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135 or to a memorial fund at Christ United Methodist Church, 3515 S. Harvard, Tulsa, OK 74136.
