Bernard Eugene Frakes, 56, of Tulsa, OK, passed away Saturday, January 17, 1976, at Tulsa, OK. He was born in Tulsa, OK, on Friday, August 29, 1919, to Henry Frakes and Stella (Hedgecock) Frakes. As one of America's "Greatest Generation," Bernard was a veteran of World War II and proud to have served as a Staff Sergeant with the 12th Air Force Far East Air Command from September 1940 to September 1945. He was on the first cargo airplane to return to the Philippines, in November 1944. Bernard was a former member of Tulsa Baptist Temple, and a former crew chief for American Airlines for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, Loena (Smith) Frakes; 4 sons, Larry and Garry Frakes of the home, Cpt. Bernie Frakes, USAF, Florida, and Daniel E. Frakes, Tulsa, OK; 3 daughters, Kathy Frakes of the home, Linda Milner of Meridian MI, and Carol Ann Wheeler of Tulsa, OK; mother, Mrs. Stella Frakes of Tulsa, OK; sister, Mrs. Ed "LaFawn" Jones of Bartlesville; 3 brothers, Gerald Frakes of Grove, OK, Dales Frakes of Tulsa, OK, and Leon Frakes of Owasso, OK; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
