Bernice Faber was born on May 3, 1928 near Hawarden, Iowa to Peter and Rena J. (de Jager) Faber. She passed away on June 12, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bernice lived in Iowa until 1932 when the family moved to Union County, South Dakota. She spent the following years in South Dakota until 1947 when they moved to Kingsley, Iowa.
After attending Madison State Teacher's College in South Dakota and Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, Bernice taught school in South Dakota and Iowa. In 1956, she started in the Gospel work in Iowa and spent 12 years there before going to Nebraska in 1968. There was some time in the 80's Bernice helped with her mother's care. Leaving Nebraska in 2000, Bernice labored in Texas until 2008 and then came to Oklahoma.
Bernice is survived by four brothers, Wendell (Vivian) Faber of Omaha, Nebraska; Maynard (Janie) Faber of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Laurence (Wanda) Faber of Poulsbo, Washington;
Ronald (Luella) Faber of Easton, Missouri; three sisters, Philene Swearengin of Casa Grande, Arizona, Goldie (Jim) Vlieger of Peru, Iowa; and Lydia (Jerry) Beemer of Surprise,
Arizona; one sister-in-law, Donna Faber of Hoyt, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Rena Faber; five sisters, Rosa, Freda, June, Berniece, and Lois Williams; two brothers, Roland and Philip; and three brothers-in-law,
Gerrit de Boer, Robert Lull and Gene Swearengin.
Visitation will be 6-8PM, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
