Bettie Jo Wright, 88, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026. She was born on March 6, 1938, in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Bettie Jo was born to Williams Jennings Busby and Dollie Thelma Busby.

Bettie Jo was a strong-willed woman who loved deeply and lived her life with a love for family, music, and the people around her. She loved gospel music and older country music, and music was always at the center of her life. Bettie Jo and her husband, Bill, shared that love of music and even owned a music store together. Bill played instruments while Bettie Jo sang, creating memories filled with music that would remain part of their family for generations. She retired from Oklahoma Well Log Library as well.

She was a devoted mother of six children and a grandmother and great-grandmother who made each person feel special and loved. She went out of her way to make every individual feel remembered on birthdays and holidays. She also shared her love of music with her grandchildren, teaching them songs and passing down something that had been such an important part of her own life.

Bettie Jo's love extended beyond her immediate family. She helped raise children in her neighborhood, and the close-knit community around her became like an extended family. Neighbors became lifelong friends, and friends became family.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love spanning generations. Bettie Jo is survived by her sons, Donnie Howard and his wife, Virginia; Steve Howard and her daughters, Vicky Howard Burrell, Jerri Ann Howard Bledsoe, and Susann Howard Devers. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, along with many other family members and loved ones.

Bettie Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wright; her daughter, Carrie Jayne Scrimsher and her granddaughter, Misty Dawn Scrimsher, as well as her parents.

Bettie Jo's life was one of family, music, strength, and love. The memories she created, the songs she shared, and the love she gave so freely will continue through the many generations she leaves behind. Her family will carry her memory forward, grateful for the life she lived and the lasting legacy of love she gave them.

Visitation will be 1PM - 7PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Moore's Southlawn. Funeral service will be 2PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
