Betty Maurine (Powers) Babiak passed into the next life on January 24, 2017 at the age of 92. Betty was born on April 29, 1924, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Walter A. Melton and Mary Elizabeth Eddy. Following the death of her father, Betty and her mother moved to Warner, OK.
She attended Connors State College and later Oklahoma A & M earning a Bachelor's and later a Master's Degree in Education. As Betty Powers, she taught math for more than 35 years, predominately at Nathan Hale High School. She was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing, playing bridge and working crossword puzzles. Over her almost 60 years in Tulsa, Betty was a member of Will Rogers, Rose Hill and Memorial Drive United Methodist Churches.
She is survived by her husband, Berl Babiak of Tulsa, daughter Marcia Robson and husband Joe of Fayetteville, AR, son Bruce Powers and wife Sheila of Tulsa, and daughter Pamela Berry and husband Stan of Fort Worth, TX. Betty is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
