Obituary

Betty Sue Baker, 87 years of age, passed on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at University Village Skilled Nursing and Rehab facility from a relapse of pneumonia.

Betty was born August 12, 1934 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to the late Fred and Marguerite Dickinson. She was the third of four children, all three preceded her in death. Betty and her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma early in her childhood.

Betty married the late Darrel Baker in 1953 and one child, Deborah, was born from this union. Betty professed her life to Christ at an early age. She loved attending church, most notably Bethel Temple with her daughter Debbie, then Evangelistic Temple, and finally Calvary Messianic Congregation with her late friend Bonnie Brady. She cherished singing to and praising the Lord in fellowship with others. Betty retired from Wood Oil Company in downtown Tulsa in 1999 after 29 years.

Betty loved to read her Bible, and prayed for and with others. She enjoyed spending time watching old movies and playing many games of Skip-Bo. She was always available to friends and family on the phone, lending a sympathetic ear or telling stories about her family and life. She was quick to laugh and made fast friends, continually sharing the love of Christ. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, grandmother (nicknamed Jamma), and loyal friend, regularly putting the needs of others before her own even after her health declined. Even though she was physically weak, everyone commented she was still sharp as a tack.

Betty leaves behind her child, Deborah and her son in law, Robert; 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Derek, and Katie; 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All who will miss her deeply.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 5, 2021 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
