Obituary

Betty Roberts Barton went to be with her heavenly family on April 13, 2019. She was born on April 28, 1927 to Dr. Roscoe and Thelma Roberts in Tulsa, OK. She had one sister, Margaret.

Betty loved to tell stories of her childhood. She was fond candy and always had a bag of candy with her. She also had a pet rat and when annoyed by her sister, Betty would tease her with the rat. She would often accompany her father on house calls. This could be to a patient's home, encampments on the banks of the Arkansas River and other places such as Methodist Manor where she spent the last two years of her life. Many people have commented on her pleasant and positive attitude and how she always had a smile for everyone.

Betty met Clarence Barton (Bart) while he was in pilot training at Spartan Aeronautics for the U S Army Air Force. Bart was stationed overseas in England during WW2 where he was a pilot of a B-24 bomber. When he returned home they were married on January 26, 1947 at Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa. They moved to Stillwater, OK where Bart obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from OSU. After graduation they moved to Weleetka, OK for Bart's job with PSO. Bart later obtained a job with Dresser Engineering and they moved back to Tulsa. They had two children, Steve and Patty.

Betty stayed home to care for the children but found time to volunteer and substitute teach at Childrens Medical Center. She thoroughly enjoyed this work. She was also active in her church, New Haven United Methodist. Later in life she became the "cookie lady" and would bake cookies for church activities. She loved baking cookies and making candy, especially at Christmas.

It was not unusual to see Betty down on the floor playing with the grandkids. From Steve and Connie there are three grand children, five great grand children and three great-great grandchildren. Patty and her husband Dave Marrow gave her two grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Thelma Roberts, husband, Bart Barton, sister, Margaret McCright and daughter, Patty Marrow.

She is survived by son Steve Barton and wife Connie of Tulsa, son in law Dave Marrow, nephew Bill McCright, and her many grandchildren.
