Obituary

Betty Jean Ritter Luton Coatney, beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana passed from this life on August 5th, 2018 at the age of 91 following a four year courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 25th, 1927 in Sand Springs, OK to Jim and Lucile (Weyant) Ritter. She married Dale R. Luton one week after he returned from the South Pacific following his service in the 2nd Marine Division during WWII. Dale preceded her in death October 22, 2007 following 63 years of marriage.

Betty became the wife of Charles L. Coatney February 6, 2009. Charles also served in WWII, in the South Pacific, in the Coast Guard. Charles loved and took good care of her the remainder of her life for over 9 years. The love he showed her and her family will be cherished in our hearts forever. We were not only blessed with Dale, a good Father and Papa but also with Charles, a good bonus Dad and Pawpaw.

Betty was a member of the 10th and Rockford Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her Brother-In-Law, Ken Trefaller, her Niece, Cynthia Trefaller Feinberg, her Son-In-Law, Bill Billingsley, her Step-Daughter, Karen Coatney and her dear friend Evelyn Coatney.

She is survived by her husband, Charles, two children, Linda Luton Jackson and her husband, Ron of Afton, OK and Ellen Luton Billingsley of White Springs, FL., four bonus children, Jim Coatney and his wife Ann, Judy and her husband, James Ivy, Janet and her husband Roger Busby and John Coatney all from Tulsa. Fourteen grandchildren, seventeen and 1/2 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her sister, Carole, Mrs. Ken Trefaller of Boise, ID and her brother, Joe Ritter and his wife Sandy of Bakersfield, CA. Betty's example as a woman of great faith, character and gentleness has given us a high standard to live up to. We will miss you, sweet Nana.

The whole family sends a special thank you to all of the wonderful people who took care of Betty at Senior Star at the Arbors Assisted Living and Jennifer Wilson RN with New Century Hospice. All of you were amazing!!
