Betty Lee Cozort, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the age of 88.
She was born on December 15, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lucius Lee and Mary Francis Tinney Fairchild. On March 15, 1957, Betty married the love of her life, Calvin Dale Cozort. They shared 62 wonderful years together before his passing.
Betty is survived by her three children: Russell Dale Cozort, Jan Lee Blanchard, and Tonya Renee Hicks; her daughter-in-law, Jan Cozort; her grandchildren: Matt Cozort, Shane Cozort, Zane Blanchard, Maris Blanchard, Bryce Hicks, Braden Hicks, and Megan Morris; and her great-grandchildren: Kolie Cozort, Kameron Cozort, Piper Cozort, Cruz Cozort, Tennyson Cozort, Citrine Hicks, and Ivy Morris. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Ronald Fairchild.
A proud graduate of Central High School, Betty dedicated her life to raising and nurturing her family. Her love for her children was unwavering, and her home was always filled with warmth, good food, and open arms. She was known for her delicious homemade pies-especially her famous crust-and her kitchen was the heart of every gathering.
Betty had a deep love for animals and welcomed all creatures great and small. In addition to her beloved cats and dogs, she cared for pigs, goats, opossums, hissing cockroaches, cows, lizards, chickens, rabbits, and many others over the years.
Rarely seen without her makeup, styled hair, and coordinated outfits-complete with matching jewelry, shoes, and purse-Betty carried herself with elegance. Lipstick was always a must. Though classy and polished, she was also quick-witted and never afraid to speak her mind.
Betty will be remembered for her spunky personality, her unique hobbies, her endless supply of captivating stories, her gentle spirit, her steadfast faith, and the boundless love she shared with everyone around her. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew her. The world will never be the same without her. Her last text to us read, "Memories are the best thing in life," and she definitely gave us the best.
