Betty Reno Harralson Duncan, born on August 2, 1933 in Pecan Gap, Texas to John Vesey and Bessie Reno, departed this life March 8, 2024 in Broken Arrow, Okla. She surpassed her goal of reaching age 90 by seven months and six days.
Betty lived in various cities in north and east Texas, eventually making her way to Tulsa in 2015. In each place she quickly became involved in her church - working as church secretary for 18 years at one location. Betty loved living a simple life surrounded by friends and family. She was always up for a game (or two, or ten) of Yahtzee, a crossword puzzle, or a dilly bar from Dairy Queen. After the death of her first husband, Betty took up quilting and making stuffed bunnies and bears for family members.
Betty loved babysitting her great-grandchildren and hosting family gatherings. To her great-grandchildren she will be remembered for orange Kool Aid and making broccoli taste good. Her adventurous spirit loved to travel via cruise, car, or motorcycle. Her foundation of faith kept her strong through many of life's ups and downs, and her favorite thing to read was the Bible.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, all 10 of her siblings, two husbands: Ray Harralson and Jamie Duncan, and three of her children: Stephen Bruce, Ken, and Leslie Harralson, and her daughter-in-law, Judy Harralson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna (Harralson) and Don Millican of Broken Arrow, Okla, her sister-in-law, Doris Harralson of Waco, Texas, nine grandchildren, and many well-loved great- and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Betty.
Despite facing challenges with speech and mobility in recent years, Betty's eyes remained a window to her thoughts, never failing to express exactly what she was feeling. During her time in Tulsa, Betty was surrounded by a dedicated team of caregivers and helpers who provided her with exceptional care and support.
Betty's life was a testament to her selflessness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Betty's memory by emulating her spirit of service: share a meal, offer a ride, provide comfort, visit the sick, send a note of encouragement, extend forgiveness, hold on to faith, and always keep the door open.
