Obituary

Betty Lois Gordon passed peacefully on June 7, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. She was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Hallard and Elsie Cook, and was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Vinita High School in 1953.
Early in adult life, Betty moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, with her son, Kevin to work as an administrative assistant at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Later she and her son relocated to Wichita, Kansas, where she began working for Cessna Aircraft Company. It was in Wichita that she met Allen Gordon, whom she married in March 1963.
Over the years, Betty and Allen moved as his work with Rockwell International (Boeing) took them to Seattle and St. Louis before returning to Tulsa, the city where she would plant roots and raise her four children.
A dedicated and involved mother, Betty managed a full household while supporting her children's schoolwork, music lessons, sports practices and church life. Once her children were older, she launched a home-based business with Home Interiors, then later returned to the workforce, where she built a two-decade career that included roles at Arrow Engineering, Siescor Technologies and Raytheon Technologies.
Though she was proud of her work, nothing meant more to her than her role as a mother. Her greatest accomplishment was joy raising her children.
After retirement, Betty and Allen built a peaceful weekend getaway at Grand Lake, a place that would hold years of family memories. She spent her later years caring for loved ones, tending to her garden, and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
Family members included son, Kevin Woolman (wife, Sheri) or Ottawa, Kansas; daughter, Brenda Lyon (husband, Patrick) of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Linda Gordon of Broken Arrow; and son, Richard Gordon of Dallas, Texas. Betty is also survived by four granddaughters and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Porta Caeli House at Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma or Saint Francis Hospice program.
Family Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 16, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
