Obituary

Betty Joan Jennings, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Legends Assisted Living, at the age of 95. Betty was born on April 3", 1931 to Raymond Earl Hibbs and Josephine Alice in Chanute, Kansas.

Betty graduated Chanute High School on May 27, 1949.

She married John Donald Jennings (Don) on November 12, 1949. From that union she had 4 children. Mike, Cindy, Kent and Lisa.

Betty wore many hats thru out the years. She volunteered for PTA at the kid's schools. Went to Tulsa Junior College receiving her Certificate of Completion for Intermediate Advanced Floral Design in November 1981. She worked at Renberg's as a Sales Associate November 11, 1973 to February 15, 1993 when she then retired. Betty earned several annual awards while she worked at Renberg's. The 100 Club for selling $100.00 or more per hour and the Presidents Club. After retiring from Renberg's she volunteered at St. Johns Hospital working the information desk and gift shop.

Betty enjoyed sewing dresses for Cindy and Lisa. Betty embroidered hand towels and pillow cases. Betty did detail bead work and embroidery on many tree skirts, which are prized possessions to all us kids. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, family gatherings, making flower arrangements. She enjoyed getting her hair done with her son Kent taking her as she knew afterwards a strawberry shake was waiting for her at Braums. She loved getting the family together for Birthday celebrations, Christmas, Easter and cook outs. She loved spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids. Betty enjoyed playing canasta with her friends, Find-a-word, and adult coloring.

Betty and Don traveled thru out the years to many places together and with family members. Always stopping along the way seeing the sights, shopping and stopping to enjoy a good meal. If you needed advice or someone to talk to she was always there.

There wasn't much of anything that she couldn't do. Mom always ensured us kids had a meal before school and a snicker doodle, oatmeal raisin or peanut butter cookie or a cinnamon roly-poly when we got home before our dinner. Betty taught her kids many things that we have carried and have valued thru out the years. One most special is the value of spending time with family.

Betty is survived by her son Kent Jennings and his wife Sheila; daughter Lisa McCoy and her husband Brett; grandkids Eric Jennings, Jason Campbell, Courtney Beach; great-grandkids Braeden Beach, Avaree Beach, Bailee Campbell and Brooklyn Campbell; great-great-granddaughter Wrenleigh Campbell and sister Evelyn Phillips.

Betty was proceeded in death by her husband Don; oldest son Mike; oldest daughter Cindy; parents Raymond and Josephine Hibbs; brothers Wiley Hibbs, Raymond Hibbs [Doc], Dean Hibbs; sisters Fern Dalton, Opal Nylander, Geneva Lour, Dorothy Fogleman, Margaret Vanek and Lavanna Hummer; numerous nieces and nephews.

A special shout out to Live Well Hospice and the people who touched our mother's life in such a short time - Toni, Tatum, and Pastor/Chaplain Dave.

As we say good bye, just for now - thank you, Mom, for all you sacrificed, taught us, did for us. Say hello to everyone!
