In 1987, President Ronald Reagan presented Lew and Betty the "Minority Entrepreneur of the Year" award at The White House Rose Garden. Following Lew's unexpected passing in 1995, she continued to work until she retired once and for all in 2007.

Betty was a woman of strong faith and character. She was a shining example of strength, wisdom and grace. She loved watching Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Thunder Basketball and cheering on her Kansas City Chiefs. Family was very important to her and she cherished each family member.
