Eulogy - She made me laugh!
Betty Smith
January 13, 1932 - April 7, 2020

Betty Lou was born January 13, 1932, to Ada Myrle Ramsey and Charles Reed in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Betty was the youngest of four siblings: Rebecca Sue, Charles Dorsett, Ada Lee and Betty Lou.
Betty was active in her church at an early age and professed a commitment to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of seven. Betty was also involved in school activities as a singer, actor and cheerleader (head cheerleader in high school). Betty Lou Reed was known by her friends throughout junior and senior high school as "BLR." She fell in love with Donald LeRoy Smith, who was on the Chickasha High School football team. They married on January 26, 1951.
Betty's life has been one of "living to the max." She was involved in service through the church and the community. Betty has served in volunteer areas with church mission trips to Guatemala, Vermont and Texas. She has worked with special needs children at The Little Light House in Tulsa, Oklahoma; MOP (Mothers of Preschoolers) and apartment ministries (English as a Second Language). She and Don have served meals at the Center of Hope in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Betty is survived by her husband, Don; children, Gary (Randall F. Kilgore), Charlotte (Grady White, deceased); two grandchildren, Stephanie (Roger DeCoster), Andrew White (Taylor Cockrell); and five great-grandchildren (Emma, Evie, Easton and Ella DeCoster, and Griffin Lee White).
